STEEL

D&R Machine has been providing reliable high precision machining services to its customers since 1971. With over fifty years of experience, our machinists are no strangers to producing complex machined parts—by either our manual or CNC machines housed in our in-house precision machine shop.

STEEL OVERVIEW

A staple metal for its durability, high strength, and adaptability in various industrial use

cases, steel is one of the most common alloys used throughout the world. From large-scale construction to commercial and military aviation to pipes and fittings, steel is a very accessible material  that, similar to other materials, can be alloyed with other materials to augment properties for specific uses.

Steel's high strength is its most prominent quality in terms of its mechanical properties. Where it lacks in corrosion resistance, it makes up for it through versatility via alloying. In stainless steel, the addition of chromium provides steel with a level of resistance against rusting and corrosion. Harder steels are typically fabricated from heat treatment processes.

Machine shops fabricate many different products with different types of steels. Tool steels with higher strength can typically be used to creating production machine tooling products such as cutting tools. Through the CNC machining process, steel can be machined into any shape or size needed as a component to an assembly.
