INCONEL OVERVIEW
A material characterized by high corrosion resistance and stability at high temperature, inconel is a nickel-chromium superalloy optimal in applications that find certain components exposed to extreme conditions. Inconel's mechanical properties make it an ideal choice for aerospace, automobile, chemical processing, oil and gas, and many other industries requiring high performance under strict environmental factors.
Due to resistance to creep and fatigue at high temperature, Inconel can be found as a primary material for components such as gas turbines and exhaust systems that are subject to high heat. Structural frames, especially in aircraft, are typically constructed of Inconel to contend with aggressive environments.
For machine shops, Inconel is often manufatured into components for motors, fasteners, couplings, valves, fittings, and more. Components for automobiles such as engine and exhaust system manifolds are often fabricated from Inconel as to ensure the integrity of the vehicle. With its corrosion resistance, applications such as storage vessels can be manufactured from Inconel to perform similarly to stainless steel, especially when said fluids require elevated temperatures to maintain optimal form.
