FEA AND SIMULATION

D&R Machine designs and custom-builds parts and machines from concept to assembly, taking account all aspects of the mechanical and electrical engineering process to deliver you a complete and ready machine for your facility. If your production challenges require a specifically designed solution, D&R Machine's engineering services will ensure a project is successfully completed.

FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS AND SIMULATION

Mathematics and simulation have been at the center point of understanding physical phenomenon throughout the world. In engineering, this typically comes in the form of FEA—Finite Element Analysis. In FEA, a modeled structure or part undergoes numerical calculations that simulate various physical conditions in the real world. This ultimately allows for engineers to predict the behavior of a part, assembly, or full structure they are designing which in turn cuts down on undesirable prototypes.

The finite element process begins by importing a model of a desired structure and subsequently breaking down its geometry into what is known as a "mesh." This mesh is essentially the structure made up of small but distinct shapes such as triangles and quadrilaterals. When a mesh establishes a structure's geometry in FEA, its mechanical properties are determined by the materials used or intended to be used in the structure's design. After initial setup, loads are applied to the structure taking account its mechanical properties and geometry to provide a simulation of the structure depending on the conditions that the structure will face in the real world.

Finite element analysis and other simulation methods can cover a whole range of mechanical engineering conditions to give engineers as much information and validation to a design as possible. Within structural analysis, FEA can cover static, dynamic, and vibrational forces both on a small and large scale. For applications that require a deeper approach into temperature, FEA offers heat transfer and thermal analysis. For fluid transmission, FEA offers an in-depth analysis on flow through pipes, valves, and other fittings.

At D&R Machine, our engineers are able to use FEA and other simulation tech to analyze mechanical structures and develop engineering solutions to many of our customers issues. Whether FEA is needed for us to develop an original engineering solution or needed to develop an adjustment to an existing structure, D&R Machine's experience in simulation analysis allows us to deliver successful projects as per our customer's requirements.
