COPPER

D&R Machine has been providing reliable high precision machining services to its customers since 1971. With over fifty years of experience, our machinists are no strangers to producing complex machined parts—by either our manual or CNC machines housed in our in-house precision machine shop.

COPPER OVERVIEW

A ductile and conductive material for both electrical and thermal applications, copper is used throughout the world in many different industries. When an application requires a moderate level of strength and the ability to conduct heat or electricity, copper is likely an ideal material to use for that particular use case. Copper typically is found as a primary material in electrical components, fittings, couplings, and more.

Copper's lower hardness and chip formation, similar to that of its alloy brass, both lends to copper's ease in machining. Higher machinability allows tooling to maintain its durability for longer to create quality parts for longer stretches of production cycles without the need of replacing tools that would typically be worn out processing other materials.

Across all industries, copper is used in electronic components and wiring to allow power to everyday devices and machines. Items such as electrical connectors and terminals along with heat exchangers are made with copper to maximize conductivity of electricity and heat. Copper's corrosion resistance lends it a viable option in underwater applications, especially in seawater environments.
